Project OTY
Privacy Policy
Last updated May 11, 2021
Your success is our success
Project OTY (“we,” “us,” etc.) is dedicated to helping anyone and everyone find their individual path to success. Our online courses are designed to help you build a roadmap that will take you confidently toward your dreams, whatever they may be. Each person’s definition of success will be unique, as will the direction of their journey.
We can’t set you on your way without collecting personal information about you. As you interact with our courses and the Project OTY products and services, you will be presented with exercises and questions to answer. Your input is used to help build your roadmap (your definition of success). We give you control in terms of editing, adding, deleting your information. In the process, you will share personal information (to the degree you’re comfortable) about your vision of success, goals, fears your managing, next steps, unique strengths along with input like motivating reminders for yourself. We’re not here to judge or to share your data other than as set out in this Policy. We’re just providing the framework to help you optimally organize and take action on your plan and path to success.
When it comes to your personal information, we want to assure you that we’re handling it in a responsible way. What good is a path to success if it’s littered with worry? We believe being as transparent as possible on this front will create a foundation that allows you to feel safe in moving toward success. This Privacy Policy is part of our effort to achieve that.
When you visit https://www.projectoty.com/, including any subdomains, (the “Website”) or register with, take our courses, plot your individual roadmap, or reflect on your life and strengths through our software application (the “App”), you will share your personal information in various ways. Sometimes we collect it directly from you or from our customers (businesses and educational institutions). Other times, we use technology to automatically collect personal information. Either way, you can be confident that we do not sell your personal information, will handle it consistent with applicable law, and in a manner that respects your rights. We also want to provide you with tools and options that empower you to manage your personal information as you see fit.
This Policy applies to our Website and App (collectively “Platform”) and any sites or products that display these terms. It does not apply to any website, mobile app, service, or product that does not display or link to this Privacy Policy or that contains its own privacy notice. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Platform. By accessing the Platform or making a purchase directly with us, you agree to this Policy and our Terms of Use.
How we collect personal information
We may collect personal information from you directly or indirectly. When you fill out a form on our Platform (to register for an account, for example), you provide personal information directly to us. In some cases, your personal information may be provided by our customer, either a business or educational institution such as a school or school district. Other times, personal information is collected automatically as you use our Platform. We also may receive personal information from third parties with whom we work.
We collect personal information when you provide it
When you register for an account with us, you will provide personal information that includes your name, email address, mailing address, and your phone number. You will create a username and password, information that on future visits helps us confirm your identity and makes it easier for you to use our Platform and keep your path to success intact.
Where a user requests that you, as family, a friend, teacher, mentor, coach, coworker, employer, or classmate, provide feedback about a user’s roadmap, goals, etc. we will collect your name and feedback.
If you contact us by phone, you may provide personal information we use to answer your questions, resolve problems, or provide you with support. We also may collect personal information from you in person at conferences, events, and trainings that we attend or sponsor.
We collect personal information from third-party sources
We may collect personal information about you from third parties, including from our business or educational institution customers, or payment processors (if you are a business or an individual), or when you use social media networks to access our Website.
We encourage customers to share their experiences with Project OTY both on our site and social media networks. If you take part in a public conversation, for example, on Facebook, we may collect personal information, such as your name and other information you have agreed to make available through your agreement with the social network. We may also collect personal information when you click “Share This” or “Like” buttons or otherwise use social media buttons or plug-ins on the Website.
We collect personal information using automated technologies
Sometimes personal information is collected by automated technologies and shared with us when visitors navigate through our Website or the App. We may track your browsing actions, log your IP address, identify your device (mobile phone or computer and operating system), and keep track of your progress as you move through our courses.
Other automated collection technologies – such as cookies, beacons, tags, and scripts – are used by us to analyze trends, administer the Platform, and track users’ movements around the Platform. A “cookie” is a small text file that is stored on an individual’s computer and downloaded to the computer or mobile device when visiting a website or using a mobile software application. Cookies then send information back to the originating website on each subsequent visit, or to another website that recognizes that same cookie. We use the following types of cookies:
Essential and Required Cookies. These are cookies that are required to make our Platform function properly and cannot be turned off in our systems. If you block these cookies, portions of our Platform may not function properly.
Performance and Analytic Cookies. Performance and analytic or functional cookies allow us to count visits and sources of traffic on our Platform so we can measure and improve their performance and functionality. They help us know which pages of our Platform are most and least popular, which features of our Platform are used most, and how visitors move around the Platform.
Targeted Advertising Cookies. Advertising cookies may be set through our Website by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on other sites.
Social Media Cookies. These cookies allow you to share information using social media sharing buttons (such as the Facebook “Like”) on social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, or Twitter. This information may then be used by the social media network to deliver targeted advertising to you.
We sometimes collect information from people younger than 16 years
Our Platform is not marketed to or typically used by individuals under age 16 and we do not allow anyone younger than 16 to purchase our Services directly through our Website. However, high school students are among the people that we want to help forge a successful future and we do this through our relationships with schools and school districts. Permission to collect and share personal information of students is granted by students’ parents and guardians through the students’ school. We do not knowingly send marketing communications to anyone younger than 16. The collection and handling of personal information of those students follow applicable laws and our agreements with school districts.
Do-not-track requests
Some Internet browsers offer a “Do Not Track” privacy preference. Generally, when a user turns on the Do Not Track Signal, their browser sends a message to websites requesting that the user not be tracked. Our Website currently does not respond to “Do Not Track” signals.
How we use personal information
We know your personal information is important to you, so we want to be transparent about our use of it. We use it for a variety of reasons, among them to provide easier, quicker access to our Platform, make it convenient to pay for our courses, and keep you moving along the path to a successful future.
As visitors navigate the Platform, their movements will be tracked and analyzed on an aggregated basis. This information allows us to improve their experience on our Platform. We sometimes combine personal information from specific customers that allow us to predict who will find particular products and services most useful and present them with the most relevant and useful information. We also use personal information:

- Schools, administrators, and teachers, to help students access the App and courses and build their roadmaps to success.
- Businesses owners and managers, to help their employees access the App and courses and build their roadmaps to success.
- Third party payment processors, to enable you to purchase our products.
- Google Analytics and similar analytics providers, to study how users interact with our Platform and keep it running efficiently. This allows us to see what areas of our Website are most engaging and provide relevant and useful information to our visitors.
- Marketing and email communications providers, to email users and send marketing targeted to customers likely to be interested in specific courses or offline products, such as workbooks.
When we share your personal information with vendors and other third parties, we have entered into contracts that limit their use of the information to delivering the contracted services to us. We do not share your personal information, except as detailed in this Policy.
Our App also allows users the ability to share personal information with third parties as they interact with family, friends, teachers, mentors, coaches, coworkers, employers, and classmates about their roadmap, progress or to request feedback or help with reaching goals and considering next steps to take or on their choices and decisions as they map out their own journey to success. We may collect personal information from those third parties as contributors to your roadmap as those interactions take place and typically via email and text.
If you make a public post, other users may see it
If you make a post on a third-party social media site, such as Facebook, or by identifying us in your social media feed by tagging us using a hashtag (#) or “at” (@), your personal information may be publicly available and is subject to the privacy policies of those third-party social media sites. As a reminder, this Policy describes how we will treat your personal information once it is in our possession.
We recommend you review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit to understand the data collection and practices of that third party.
We may share feedback you provide to us
We want to hear how we’re doing. If you have suggestions on how to improve our products and services, add to our courses, or include in our newsletters and blogs, we want those as well. Please be aware that any feedback relating to our products and services on our Platform or social media channels may be publicly shared.
We also encourage users to submit testimonials, via text, photo, or video. By submitting a photo or video to us, we consider this your permission to use it on our Platform. If you do not want us to use your images this way, please do not submit them to us.
Eventual successors may access information
In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or other sale of all or a portion of our assets, any customer information owned or controlled by us may be among the assets transferred to third parties as successors in interest. As part of this type of transaction, we reserve the right to transfer or assign your personal information to third parties. Other than to the extent ordered by a bankruptcy or other court, or as otherwise agreed to by you, the use and disclosure of all transferred customer information will be subject to this Policy.
We need to comply with legal requirements
We may disclose your information to government authorities or other third parties if any lawful circumstances arise, including when:
- You have given us permission to share your information.
- We are required to do so by law, or in response to a subpoena or court order.
- We believe, in our sole discretion, that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect against fraud, or to protect our property or other rights or those of other users of the Website, third parties, or the public at large.
- We believe that you have misused the Website by using it to attack or gain unauthorized access to a system or to engage in spamming or other conduct that violates applicable laws or our Terms of Use.
How we secure personal information
We have implemented industry-accepted administrative, physical, and technology-based security measures to protect against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, and alteration of personal information in our systems.
While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or form of electronic storage is 100 percent secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Questions or concerns about our security or privacy.
If you feel that any of our privacy practices or security standards detailed in this Privacy Policy have not been followed, you may contact us (see Contact Us at the end of this Policy for additional details).
If you have received unwanted or unsolicited e-mail from us or purporting to be sent by us, please forward a copy of that e-mail with your comments to hello@ProjectOTY.com for our review.
Your Rights
We understand that you want to protect and control your personal information. This section details how you may review, update, correct, or delete that information.
Viewing or updating your personal information
Individuals who are not students may update their name, contact information, email preferences, and physical address by accessing their account on the Platform. Students who participate in Project OTY via their school districts are unable to alter personal information on their accounts on their own due to school district requirements and our contracts with those school districts. If you are a student and wish to update your personal information, please contact your school’s administration to request any updates.
Deactivating your account
Individuals who do not have an account linked to a school, may deactivate their account at any time. To deactivate an account, please send an email to hello@ProjectOTY.com with “Deactivate Account” in the subject line. Upon receiving the request, we will deactivate the account and delete personal information within a reasonable period of time and in accordance with applicable law. Students will need to contact their school’s administration to request deletion of their accounts.
Opting out of promotional emails
If you do not want to receive promotional e-mails from us, you may follow the unsubscribe process at the bottom of the promotional e-mail you received or by emailing us at hello@ProjectOTY.com with “Unsubscribe” in the subject line. Please keep in mind that you still may receive transactional e-mails from us (such as e-mails related to your account, orders you place, correction of your data, password reset requests, reminder e-mails you have requested, and other similar communications) that may be necessary for us to make the Platform available to you, process your order, or to respond to your inquiries and support requests.
As a reminder, we do not send promotional e-mails or other marketing communications to anyone 16 or younger, which includes most students.
European Economic Area, Switzerland, and United Kingdom
Project OTY currently does not target or market our Platform to individuals in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. We do not intend for our Platform to be accessed by anyone in those jurisdictions.
In the event we do direct our Platform to users in those regions, we will update these terms to ensure we reflect any additional rights reserved under applicable laws. Those updates will be made available within this Privacy Policy, in accordance with those regulations.
California Consumer Rights
The California Consumer Privacy Act provides specific rights to those who live in the state of California. That law does not currently apply to Project OTY, however. In the event we expand our business to the point where applicable laws do apply, we will update this Privacy Policy in accordance with those regulations.
If you are a California consumer with questions about this section of our Policy, email us at hello@ProjectOTY.com with “CCPA Rights” in the subject line.
Identity verification requirement
The law requires us to verify that any request submitted was made by someone with the legal right to access the information. Therefore, before accessing or disclosing any information pursuant to a data access request, we may request additional information to verify your identity and legal authority, particularly when the information provided with the request is insufficient for us to confirm legal authority and/or identity.
To make a request, please contact us at hello@ProjectOTY.com with “Personal Information Request” in the subject line and provide full details about your request, including your contact information and anything you believe is relevant. We will provide a response to an access request within the timeframes required by law. If we cannot substantively respond in a timely manner, we will notify you and provide the reason for the delay.
Under certain circumstances, we may not fulfill your request, such as when doing so would interfere with our regulatory or legal obligations, when we cannot verify your identity, if your request involves disproportionate cost or effort, or when the law allows us to retain that information. But we will respond to your request within a reasonable time, as required by law, and provide an explanation.
Updates
This Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect our personal information handling practices. We reserve the right to amend this Policy at any time, for any reason, without additional notice to you, other than through posting the updated Privacy Policy on our Website. We invite you to return to this page to ensure you are informed of any updates we make about how we collect, use, and protect personal information. You can see when this Privacy Policy was last updated by checking the “last updated” date displayed at the beginning of this Policy.
Be sure to check this Policy for updates, as we will review it at least every 12 months and make necessary changes.
